SO Tesco would like to apply for permission for the British Heart Foundation building in Piccadilly in the future (The Press, October 16).

I don’t have an opinion one way or another on the matter, but at least it’s a move to tidy up Piccadilly, which is such an eyesore.

I can’t be the only one who has remarked again on the state of the White Swan. The owners should be made to sell it by a compulsory order. It’s a prominent corner in York.

The previous plans were turned down. Like them or not they were an improvement on what we have now in that particular street.
