A NORTH Yorkshire couple are hoping to bring home the bacon after snapping up a business with a difference.
James and Lucy Haxton have bought the Adopt-A-Pig venture which was launched by Duncan Turnbull and now plan to house it at the farm at Little Habton, near Malton, which they are renovating.
The idea allows people to choose a pig, name it, visit it and eventually eat it, with the business attracting visitors from throughout the country.
Mr Haxton said: “We are delighted to have the Adopt-A-Pig scheme here and look forward to building a herd of pigs over the years to come, ultimately showing them at the Great Yorkshire Show.”
The couple have also bought Mr Turnbull’s Yorkshire Meats business, which was based near York, after he decided to establish a charity in Windsor while also planning to open a boutique hotel in the Moroccan city of Fes.
