BOOTHAM ‘A’ maintained their unbeaten run in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK snooker league with a 6-1 victory against their ‘B’ team, who they replaced as league leaders.

The winners were Tim Fillingham, Rob Barron (32 black), John Darley (28 black), Mark Darley, Barry Rankin and Chris Dower with a reply by Jeff Brown.

Fulford ‘A’ hold on to a joint lead position despite losing 4-3 to Heworth ‘B’.

Vic Gamble, Tim Hart (28 black), Jamie Kilmartin and Chris Thompson won for Heworth and Mark Robson (24 black), Mike Walsh (30 black) and Tim Lister (24 black) for Fulford.

After consecutive defeats Heworth ‘A’ won 5-2 against Acomb ‘B’.

Their winners were Adam Scaife, Nick Dyson, Jason Milner, Clive Whyte and Mark Winskill. Eric Leatt and Steve Rodgers replied for Acomb.

Defending champions Heworth prevailed against Fulford in the York Conservative Clubs’ Slater Cup snooker pairs league, but only by the aggregate point.

Heworth went 2-0 up only for Fulford to level with two black-ball results.

Nick Hodgson and Jamie Faircliffe moved Heworth ahead, but Fulford levelled again as Dave Scott and Pete Stroughair had a one-point black-ball success.

However, Heworth easily gained the aggregate for a 4-3 win to go a point clear of Fulford at the top.

Acomb went 2-1 up on Bootham as George Rawling and Mike Bowker took the third frame on the black but Bootham won the remaining three games to earn the aggregate from a 5-2 win.

Bootham ‘A’ gained revenge for the home defeat by coming away from Acomb with a 4-2 victory in the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shield Billiards League.

The teams were level after four games as Keith Myers and John Askwell won for Acomb and Ken Taylor (42 black) and John Darley replied.

Barry Rankin (22 black) defeated Adrian Barraclough and overturned an aggregate deficit to secure a 4-2 success.

Heworth inflicted a 6-0 whitewash on Fulford in a match which saw the first century break since Terry Ward’s 101 in 1987 for Bootham v Acomb.

He made an early 68 and a 30 break but Gary Rogers replied with 113, 42 and 53 unfinished.

Brian Birch, Mark Winskill (30 black) and Jason Milner made it 4-0 before Steve Burdett (66 black) held off Richard Stroughair (40, 27 blacks) for the clean sweep.

Rogers’ form continued as he knocked in a 76-break followed by a record 105 against Bootham ‘B’, who then moved ahead through Tony Lambert and Tim Fillingham (21, 24, 27 breaks).

Jason Milner levelled but Ian Robinson’s run of the ball ensured he won the decider for Bootham ‘B’ to also overturn the aggregate deficit to make it 4-2 for Bootham.
