ONE OF York’s largest employers has added its voice to The Press’s campaign to Get York Moving.
The Press launched the campaign last week following the announcement by the Government’s transport secretary Philip Hammond that York must re-enter its bid for the £25 million Access York scheme to build three new Park&Ride sites after it was not approved in the first round of Government funding.
Now Ken Hesketh, the chief executive of Benenden Healthcare Society, which employs 160 people at its premises in Holgate Park Drive, York, has lent his support to the campaign.
Mr Hesketh said: “We are very supportive of local businesses and understand that improved traffic flow leads to improved business links. York doesn’t deserve to miss out on the opportunity to increase its economic profile and attraction as a centre for business.
“A new Park&Ride facility with a route that serves our own location at Holgate Park Drive would be particularly welcome to help reduce car parking congestion and improve staff access to our offices. I’m sure that many businesses would want the same for their own organisation.”
