TOURIST information centre managers from across Yorkshire came to York for a tour of its new visitor information centre.

The centre, which opened in May on the corner of Museum Street and Blake Street, replacing one based at the De Grey Rooms in Exhibition Square, boasts digital signage, allowing up-to-the-minute information to be displayed for customers.

Locally produced goods are also sold, including Yorkshire stoneware from Doncaster, handmade wooden toys and gifts from Tom Thumb designs in York, Wolds Way lavender, ceramics from Wold Pottery, and chutneys and cakes from Lewis and Cooper, of Northallerton.

The group of more than 35 managers went on to hold their bi-annual regional meeting at The Hospitium in Museum Gardens, followed by a tour of the newly refurbished Yorkshire Museum.
