WESTMINSTER Road residents object to a six-month trial of traffic-calming chicanes (The Press, November 27).
If a review is to take place regarding the traffic measures introduced at Clifton Green, surely no temporary measures should be introduced until after the review; or does the council have spare money to spend?
Coun David Scott states “what residents want is their street back”. I was not aware it was their street; I was under the impression that it was a public highway. Perhaps the residents should be canvassed as to whether they wish to make it a private street and take on board all the maintenance costs that go with it, then they would have the right to object.
Until then I will use ‘their’ street as and when I choose.
