ELECTRICITY supplies to properties in central Harrogate were cut off by a fire in a basement electric substation yesterday night.
Firefighters from Harrogate and Knaresborough dealt with the blaze in a three-storey commercial building in Cheltenham Mount which houses offices and a restaurant.
A fire service spokesman said the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault. Initial reports described it as an "explosion".
