PRESSURE from residents and a local councillor has meant two roads in a York community are earmarked for potential resurfacing work.

Fordlands Road and Heslington Croft, in the Fulford area of the city, have been included on a provisional list of routes and footpaths which could be improved during the current financial year.

The list goes before City of York Council’s executive member for neighbourhood services, Coun Ann Reid, later this month, with Naburn Lane and part of the A19 also set to be resurfaced next year as part of a planned £186,000 investment in Fulford’s roads and paths.

Coun Keith Aspden said: “Over the summer, I carried out a door-to-door survey of residents in Fulford to find out their views on a range of issues, including road resurfacing.

“I arranged for a petition to be collected and the show of support from residents has helped ensure Fordlands Road and Heslington Croft have both been included on the provisional list of schemes for next year.

“I am delighted the council has taken on board the wishes of local residents and included both these roads on the list.”
