A LORRY driver was airlifted to hospital after his HGV flipped on to its side and landed in a ditch.
The crash happened yesterday at about 3pm at the junction between the A63 and Lowfield Road, in the village of Monk Fryston, south of Selby.
Police said the blue articulated lorry, which was carrying sand, left the road and came to rest on its side in a ditch. No other vehicles were involved.
The 60-year-old driver was taken to Pinderfields Hospital by Yorkshire Air Ambulance suffering from suspected fractures.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the driver was on top of his cab when firefighters arrived on scene and they helped him to get down.
Witnesses are asked to phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 6060247.
