IT IS all very well for council officers and the academic researcher Richard Fordham to conclude that affordable housing requirements of 35 per cent and 25 per cent are viable because they don’t actually have to do it, do they?
I have the perfect solution to determine who is right and who is wrong in this matter. Those council officers responsible for these flawed proposals should leave their comfortable well-paid local authority jobs and Dr Fordham should climb down from his ivory tower. They should join together and put all their own personal money and resources into a house-building company to show us how it can be done. Out in the real world, they wouldn’t last five minutes.
