STAFF at a golf club near Pocklington have successfully battled to keep their premises open every day during the big freeze – and even found time to help dig out the monks at a local Buddhist Centre who had been stuck in the snow for several days.
Paul Hannon, manager of the KP Club, said that with bookings at a high for the club’s luxury lodges and weddings planned, some staff also slept at the venue to ensure they could be there the next day.
Kevin Thompson, from the Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre, said: “We were so relieved when the staff from the KP Club came to help us. Without them we would have been in real trouble. Our access road was thick with snow and ice and our cars were just stuck. They are a fantastic group of people and I would like to say a big thank you.”
