A JOINER from York was given an early Christmas present when he won a £15,000 Volvo car in a raffle.
It was a huge surprise for Steve Rambridge, 24, as he did not even know he had been entered into the prize draw.
His grandmother, Joan Rambridge, had bought raffle tickets for all her family members as a surprise.
Steve, who lives in Strensall, had only recently bought a new van, so he has given the car to his brother, Paul, in return for £6,000.
He said: “It’s a very good Christmas present isn’t it? I’m so lucky.
“I was really surprised when I was told I had won because I didn’t even know I’d been entered into the competition.”
The raffle was run by the Army Benevolent Fund, while the car was donated by Ray Chapman Motors.
It is not the first time Mrs Rambridge has come lucky when entering competitions. Her previous prizes include a trip on the Orient Express, a skiing holiday and a trip to Japan.
