PUPILS at Ralph Butterfield Primary School, Haxby, show the posters which won them a York Rotters competition as teachers Mrs Chrystal and Mrs Daniel look on.
Pupils from the school took first, second and third place in both age categories of the competition, run by the York community composting group.
The winner of the over-eights category was Cai Sherlock, with Katie Chaplin and Sowmya Subrahmanyam as runners-up. The winner of the under-eights section was India Hutchinson, with Joe Holdsworth and Kayleigh Wells the runners-up.
India’s winning design will be made into leaflets, while Cai’s winning design has been made into posters that will be displayed throughout York as part of York Rotters Christmas Campaign.
Catherine Bamford, of York Rotters, said: “Composting is a great way to green up your Christmas. Composting is really easy to do and doesn’t take up a lot of time or space in your garden.”
