I WOULD like to make dog walkers aware of two aggressive dogs being walked by the River Foss in Strensall. These dogs, one German shepherd and one black Labrador-type dog, attacked one my lurchers, pinning him down and inflicting severe bites to his back legs and his neck.
The owner of these two dogs made no attempt to prevent or stop the attack; or, once it was over, to check on the condition of my dog or offer any assistance.
He merely called his dogs away, and returned in the direction from which they had come.
If anyone else has had similar experiences, or can help identify the dogs, I would like to hear from them through the Press. It may be that something can then be done to prevent such an event happening to another innocent dog in the future.
In the meantime, I urge all dog-walkers by the Foss in Strensall to look out for these two animals and to avoid them.
My dog is now at home, sedated and stitched, and at the start of what will hopefully be a full recovery.
John Meredith, Strensall, York.
