A collision between two cars closed the A19 between Selby and York for nearly three hours.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the crash, which involved a blue BMW 316i and a black Audi TT, at about 5.50pm on Saturday on the A19 south of Riccall.
The 25-year-old male driver of the BMW suffered a fractured femur. The 33-year-old male driver of the Audi was trapped in his vehicle for about 20 minutes until he was freed by firefighters.
He had suffered a broken ankle and suspected neck, chest and spinal injuries.
No details were available on either man’s condition as The Press went to print.
A section of the road was closed with diversions in place until 8.30pm while police carried out investigations and both vehicles were removed from the road.
Selby watch manager Tony Walker said two fire & rescue crews from Selby had attended the incident after being alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
A passing motorist initially raised the alarm.
