THEY say a squeaking wheel gets the most attention, but not for me. I am the squeaking wheel for the Tea Room Square fiasco, and have lost count of the number of letters I have written trying to get something done.

Some months ago, I thought we were going to see something happen as it was reported in The Press that head of strategy Steve Galloway was going to form a committee to look at how improvements could be made.

So you can imagine my unprintable thoughts on reading in The Press on December 11 that more than £500,000 was going to be spent on improving access for cycles.

When passengers arrive in York they will see the gridlock the Tea Room Square causes, and then have to wait for a taxi, not because there are a shortage of taxis, but because they can’t get in or out due to the traffic management.

I would suggest you take some of the money and do a survey, say 4pm on a Friday: the taxi queue will tell you where to stick your bikes and it won’t be at the station.
