YORK is becoming more and more lethal for cyclists due to irresponsible car and lorry drivers. My normal cycling week to work seems to be a series of near misses and each one could have been fatal.

Day one and I am being crushed into the kerb by a lorry driver who thinks a cycle lane is for him.

Day two and I have a car driver who overtakes me on Lendal Bridge and then proceeds to turn left, nearly slicing me in half.

Day three and approaching Micklegate Bar I am overtaken by a car on the wrong side of the road, which swerves across my path into the bar archway, crushes another two cyclists against the wall and then proceeds to knock another one off his bike.

Day four and I see a car which seems to be aiming for me but drives into a bus instead; lucky me, I thought.

Day five and I cycle carefully realising there is snow and black ice on the road.

Several cars hurtle past me, uncaring of the danger they pose.

I ride home and decide to take the bus instead. You can have too much excitement.
