TO deter drink-driving, make it law that if caught drink driving, the culprit’s car should be confiscated, sold and the money raised be given to charity; plus they should be given an automatic jail sentence.
Why should an innocent person such as Angela Scott and her family have to go through a living hell and still are (The Press, December 13)? If people want to drink that’s fine, but leave your car keys at home, get a taxi or walk.

• IN response to the Don’t Drink and Drive advertisement in The Press on Thursday, December 16, I pledge my full support to the campaign in York.
I have put my own life in danger to try and prevent a drink-driver from setting off and endangering the lives of members of the York public, when a young child who was in the car on the back seat.
I believe my actions sent out a clear message that drink-driving will not be tolerated in York. I was nominated by a member of York public for Person Of The Year award in The Press Community Pride Awards 2010, for which I am proud and honoured.
I urge the people of York, please don’t drink and drive, ever. The consequences of drink-driving will live with you forever. Use the bus, a taxi, walk or get a non-drinking driver to drive.
Terry Smith, Fourth Avenue, Heworth, York.
