THOUSANDS of people voted to make Greta the goat Christmas number one.
The goat from St Helen’s Farm at Seaton Ross, in East Yorkshire, sang Hark The Herald Angels Sing in an X Factor-style competition held at the farm.
Greta competed against her yard-mates Gertrude and Gladys singing Oh Come All Ye Faithful and Silent Night.
Voting on the farm’s website closed on Sunday, with Greta winning more than 50 per cent of the vote.
Angus Wielkopolski, founder of St Helen’s Farm, started the competition because he said his goats produce more milk when music was playing in the milking parlour, and at this time of year they bleat along to all the best Christmas songs.
Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You is reportedly the best song to increase production, but Wizzard’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day actually slowed milk production.
He said: “We were amazed to see how many people watched our talented trio and we were glad to give them all their moment in the spotlight.
Although voting is closed the videos can still be seen at sthelensfarm.co.uk/vote4goat.asp
