A DEDICATED volunteer from York has been shortlisted in veterinary charity PDSA’s annual Volunteer Awards for her outstanding passion and commitment to the charity.
Jean Young, who lives in York and works at the PDSA shop in Goodramgate, is up against two other hopefuls for the Retail Volunteer Of The Year award.
She said: “I am very proud to be nominated, but it is the work of the PDSA that is so fantastic. I am happy to be involved in the procedure which the PDSA undertakes – we provide veterinary support for the animals belonging to people in real need of it.”
She said it would not have been possible without the help of colleague and friend Michelle Riley.
Sarah Norman, PDSA store manager, who nominated Jean for the award, said: “Jean is an absolute star. She is passionate about the work of the charity.”
She described Jean’s nomination as a “fitting tribute” to her hard work.
The winner will be announced in the new year.
