UP to one-third of shoppers in York have admitted using physical force or shouting abuse during last-minute festive shopping.

A survey by online parcel delivery service myhermes.co.uk said as many as one-in-three people from York said they had verbally or physically abused shop assistants or fellow shoppers during stressful periods of Christmas shopping.

The survey also found the most annoying experience for shoppers in York was people being rude and impatient (30 per cent), and the next most annoying things were people pushing in front of you (27 per cent) and long queues at the tills (27 per cent).
