BUBWITH Parish Council has asked me to write to you.
You carried a report on December 10 that Elvington residents were asking for the temporary weight limit on the bridge to be made permanent.
Bubwith Parish Council wishes to record the other side of the argument: a quieter life for Elvington residents with the loss of HGV movements has meant a significant increase in HGV traffic through Bubwith and adjoining villages.
The extra traffic is causing noise and pollution problems and potential risk to our residents.
So please, when reporting the pleasure of Elvington residents at the reduced HGV load passing through their village, please don’t forget that other villages in the East Riding of Yorkshire are suffering to make this happen.
Steve Young on behalf of Bubwith Parish Council, Main Street, Bubwith, Selby.
