York IBC ladies followed their success from the big win three days previously against North Cave with another comprehensive victory, this time toppling Harrogate 106-52 in the third round of the Yetton Trophy.
As in the previous triumph over North Cave, York won all four rinks.
At home, Carol Instone’s team got off to a good start as they led 15-2 after only six ends.
A five on the 17th end gave the visitors a slender chance, but it wasn’t to be, as the home side won the last four ends scoring eight shots to finish 30-15 victors.
The team led by Melanie Brooke were 5-3 ahead after six ends before scoring a two, three, and then a six, which proved insurmountable as they went on to post a 25-12 success.
In Harrogate, Linda Harrison’s team lost their first two ends to trail 4-0.
But they surged to the front with a five on the third.
From then on they seized control only losing five more ends to prevail 25-10.
Helen Walker’s rink also picked up a five to take the lead – on the sixth end – to post a 9-6 advantage.
After bagging the five, Walker’s rink only lost five more ends as they reinforced a comfortable 26-15 victory.
York now play Redcar on Thursday, January 6.
