TWO churches in York will be performing unusual takes on the traditional nativity story in their Christmas Eve services tomorrow.
The 4pm service at St Mark’s Church in Rawcliffe will take the form of a spy thriller called The Jesus Identity, in which the baddies, King Herod and his men, take on a secret agent team of angels.
Meanwhile, the 3.30pm and 5pm services at St Philip and St James’ Church in Clifton will tell the story of The Teeny Angel, who never seems to be chosen for important jobs until one night she is chosen to tell some good news to shepherds.
The Rev Dave Casswell, vicar of both churches, said: “Everyone is welcome to attend these services and get back to the true message of Christmas.”
