THE Archbishop of York has revealed that he and his wife decided not to exchange gifts this Christmas.
Dr John Sentamu said that, instead, they donated what they would have spent on each other to charities which help children who are suffering in Britain and around the world. “I think it is important that we show solidarity with those who are in pain or deprivation,” he said in a national newspaper column.
Dr Sentamu also revealed that it was the first Christmas that none of his children or foster children had been at home, as they had all moved away.
