THE battle for the division two title in the CE Electric York and District Table Tennis League involves five teams.
Shepherds ‘B’ are the new leaders after a resounding 9-1 thrashing of Sessions ‘A’, who sadly could muster only two players.
Bootham ‘C’ bounced back into the picture after an excellent 8-2 win over fellow challengers Crescent ‘C’, with Rich Harrison and Mike Cooper in fine form.
Crescent ‘C’ had earlier dismissed a weak University ‘A’ side 9-1, with John Freeman and John Flintoft unbeaten.
Bootham ‘D’ look set for a swift return to division three after they crashed 9-1 to RI ‘D’, who had Pat Swindell and Jake McCarthy excelling in the win.
The bottom club also stumbled to an 8-2 defeat at the hands of Holgate ‘D’, whose Bob Young and Rob Farmery were undefeated.
Coneysthorpe ‘A’ have a clear lead at the top of division one, and they whitewashed Shepherds ‘A’, who had earlier edged out RI ‘C’ thanks to James Atkins.
Division three leaders CE Electric whitewashed depleted BT ‘B’, while RI ‘F’ overcame Shepherds ‘D’ 7-3.
University ‘B’ have surged to the top of division four after three emphatic wins, whitewashing Bootham ‘F’, dismissing Holgate ‘F’ 9-1, and finally picking up a 7-3 win at Thornton-le-Clay.
