WITH regard to Ann Reid defending the job done by York workers to tackle in the icy weather (The Press, December 17), is it not time that she came out and said why the council does not clear side roads and footpaths?
This is due to the fact that should they do so, the law states that anyone falling and injuring themselves can claim from the council.
Would it not serve the public better if she and her fellow councillors strove to get this law changed and not only this council but councils throughout the country?
There is a saying, “Sometimes the law is an ass”; this is a classic case.
