A North Yorkshire charity has had bags of support at Sainsbury’s Foss Bank store in York during a bag-packing fundraising event.
Safe And Sound Homes (Sash) volunteers have been helping shoppers with their festive season supplies and were presented with a cheque for nearly £600 by the supermarket, in recognition of their important work within the community.
Andy King, PR ambassador for the store, said: “Sash were ecstatic that we picked them to be our charity of the year and very grateful for the cheque.
“It’s a really good cause, particularly at this time of year and with it being so cold outside – it must be really awful living out on the streets so people have been very generous.”
The money raised by Sainsbury’s will go toward finding accommodation for homeless young people with fully-trained volunteers.
