FORMER cabinet minister David Blunkett has welcomed The Press’s campaign to secure massive transport investment in York.
He was speaking after York Labour group leader James Alexander wrote to all Yorkshire MPs and front-bench MPs asking them to support our Get York Moving campaign, which calls on the Government to stick to the £23 million grant originally earmarked for new Park&Ride sites on the city’s outskirts.
Mr Blunkett, a Labour MP in Sheffield, said he was “very happy to support your campaign” and said he backed the efforts to get the funding.
Coun Alexander said: “This Press campaign is a vital vehicle to lobby cross-party for essential transport funding.”
