Archbishop Holgate’s School, in York, has received the Design Mark, an award gained by only ten other schools in the country.
The award was created within the Design Skills Alliance, a consortium of 20 design and engineering organisations and bodies. The manifesto of the Design Alliance is to ensure that Britain remains a leading influence in innovation.
The school’s head teacher, Andrew Daly, said: “We are delighted to have achieved such a fantastic accolade.
“Being the only school in the north-east to gain the award reinforces our commitment to being at the forefront of design and technology and engineering and highlights the quality and amount of hard work happening at the school.”
Steven Parkinson, a design and technology teacher at the school, has also won the title of design and technology teacher of the year from the James Dyson Foundation.
