YORK Squash Open Championships for the men’s title and the veterans’ crown start tomorrow at Dunnington Squash Club with the finals of both tournament to be held on February 6.
Last year’s champion Chris Rusling, who plays for York RI and Chapel Allerton in the Yorkshire League, is again defending his title.
Unfortunately last year’s beaten finalist, Nathan Hill, is unavailable.
Champion Rusling will face stern competition from former winner Paul Adams, Yorkshire county player Johnny Duffield and county over-35 star Matt Stephenson. They comprise the top seeds for the Open tournament.
The veterans’ tournament, which is being run in conjunction with the Open event, pits the recent age group qualifying Adams against last year’s winner Ian Tooms in what also promises to be a tough competition.
