A CYCLIST was left bruised and shaken after he was knocked down by a car in York.
The victim, a 52-year-old local man, was travelling along Navigation Road, near to the Bretgate turning, at about 11.45am on Sunday when he was hit by a black vehicle travelling towards Walmgate.
He was knocked from his bike and suffered minor facial injuries and bruising to his legs.
PC Hannah Dearden, of York Police, said: “Although his injuries are only minor, the cyclist was left very shaken by the incident. Unfortunately, the driver of the black vehicle made off without checking to see if the victim was okay.
“It could be that the driver was unaware that a collision has occurred, however it is still important that we speak to that person to establish the circumstances of the incident.”
