York IBC had a good win in the Hebden Trophy beating South Leeds by a massive 107-46 and picking up the maximum 18 points.

At home, Geoff Walker’s team led 21-0 after 13 ends before conceding seven shots over the following five. But they responded by winning the last three to win 29-16.

Brian Thomas’s team were having an easy passage when they led 14-3 after nine ends but by the 15th the score stood at 15-12 before the home side stepped up a gear to finish 26-13.

Away, both rinks were in impressive form leading from start to finish. Tony Bryan’s rink only lost five ends throughout, winning easily 27-7. Tony Hopcutt’s rink only lost seven ends in winning 25-10.

New Earswick nearly pulled off a shock victory against league leaders, and previously unbeaten, North Cave. Leading 77-70 with three ends to play they lost 87-84.

At home, Brian Birch’s team got off to a great start. After dropping a two on the first end they scored 17 shots without reply over the next five ends.

Despite then dropping five shots over the last two ends, they were still Earswick’s only winning rink.

Gordon Storey’s team looked to be on course for a win when they led 17-13 with five ends to play. However, their opponents came back well and won 24-18.

Away, Bob Howland’s team led 20-15 with two to play before dropping a single then a four to draw.

Phil Reeves’ team made a good comeback after being 25-15 down with four to play they only lost by four shots – 26-22.
