RESIDENTS living in private streets or cul-de-sacs in North Yorkshire who want to organise street parties for the royal wedding will be given help from council officers.
A North Yorkshire County Council spokesman said applications for parties – to mark the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29 – received by March 14 will mean a legal order can be made to cover a number of roads and the costs will be met by the authority.
Residents organising street parties are also advised not to sell alcohol or publicise and charge for music to avoid having to apply for an alcohol or entertainment licence.f Coun Gareth Dadd said: “We wish to make the process as easy as possible for people to enjoy a street party for the royal wedding. We are happy to work with residents and give as much guidance as possible.”
