COMMUNITY-MINDED gardeners have helped to transform a site in Tang Hall.
Barry Bothamley, 70, and Mac Mitchell, 65, have worked with local companies to make a garden for children with disabilities at Glen Allotments.
The pair have constructed raised flower beds, a rockery, a shed, fencing arches for roses and a bench at the 30 sq m site.
They also constructed individual bays for young gardeners under 16 to take on themselves. Mr Bothamley, the chairman of Glen Allotments, said: “Mac and I have done the work with the assistance of local companies. “We thought it would be a nice place for young people to go.
“We have been able to transform the plot and it looks absolutely wonderful.”
Mr Bothamley said he would like to thank Elvington Plant Hire, Martin Skip Hire, Robinson Properties, Saxon House in Fishergate, 659 Taxis and Mitchell Landscapes for helping to support the project. There are two bays available for young people to take on.
