A MAN has died after being stabbed in the throat at a York house, triggering a police murder inquiry.
Five people, two men and three women, have been arrested and are being questioned about the attack in Stuart Road, Acomb.
Part of Middleton Road which leads on to Stuart Road was sealed off as part of the murder investigation, which was launched immediately after the stabbing on Friday afternoon.
The victim, who somehow managed to leave the address and make his way to Middleton Road, was rushed from there to hospital by ambulance.
Police and a local councillor have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police can now confirm this is a murder inquiry. Police are appealing for information and ask anyone who was in the area of Kingsway West, Gale Lane, Middleton Road and Stuart Road on Friday afternoon, or anyone who may have information, to contact them as a matter of urgency.
Call the police on 0845 6060247 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
Ward councillor and city council leader Andrew Waller said residents were very concerned about what had happened and backed the appeal for information, saying: “The residents will want the appropriate action to be taken as quickly as possible.”
