A man has been in court charged with the murder of a York father.
Brian Cox, 29, appeared before York Magistrates this morning, charged with the murder last Friday of Mark John Webb, 40, at a house in Stuart Road in Acomb.
Magistrates remanded Cox, of no fixed address, in custody and sent him to Leeds Crown Court where he will appear before a crown court judge on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
Defence solicitor Vicky Latham did not make a bail application as, by law, only a judge can grant bail to defendants in a murder case.
Cox spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
Mr Webb, who lived in Cornlands Road, died last Friday.
