Four budding mathematicians from Tadcaster Grammar School have reached the national final of a prestigious maths team challenge.
Patrick Austin, a Year Nine student, and Danny Clarke, Ben Sharples and Dominic Richmond, all in Year Eight, won the regional heat of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust Junior Team Challenge, which was held recently in Leeds.
After beating 25 other teams in the regional heat, they will now head to London to compete in the final. It is the second time that Tadcaster Grammar School’s junior maths team has been successful in gaining a place at the final.
“I am very pleased to be in the national final again,” said maths teacher and team coach Neil Turner. “We usually do well in the regionals, but to win and go through shows how hard the team has worked together.”
The national final will take place on Monday, June 20, at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.
