A sub-postmaster is going on trial today accused of murdering his wife, nearly a year to the day after her body was found.
Robin Garbutt, 45, is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court, accuse of killing Diana Garbutt on March 23, 2010.
The trial is scheduled to last for four weeks.
Mr Garbutt denies murdering his wife at The Village Shop and Post Office in Melsonby, near Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Mrs Garbutt had grown up in Eggborough before attending Brayton High School and Selby College. Her mother, Agnes Gaylor, runs the Boot And Shoe pub at Gowdall, near Selby.
She and Mr Garbutt lived in York before moving to Melsonby.
A post-mortem examination revealed that Mrs Garbutt, who was 40 when she died, had suffered head injuries.
The trial was due to take place last October but was postponed for tests on a possible murder weapon.
The post office has been closed since Mrs Garbutt's death, although a weekly mobile service has been established in the village.
