The University of York team were one of 28 teams from around the country to take part in the latest series, which began filming last February.
Last night’s episode was filmed at Granada studios in Manchester last June, but the team were sworn to secrecy about the result until after the series has ended.
They will face either Peterhouse, Cambridge, or Magdalen College, Oxford in the final, depending on the result of the last semi-final, to be broadcast next Monday at 8pm on BBC2.
