THREE young friends in York are helping to organise a royal wedding street party.
Grace Smith, ten, and her friends Paige, 11, and Anna, 12, are staging a party in Hunters Way, Dringhouses, which is expected to be attended by 100 neighbours.
After hearing about the royal engagement the girls set up headquarters in a neighbour’s garage and have been busy making bunting and fundraising for prizes.
The girls are also organising a parade, although details of it have been kept under wraps so far.
Local butcher Ged Bell & Sons are making a wedding cake-style pork pie and Studio Jo is offering a year of free haircuts to the winners of a children’s prince and princess competition.
Neighbour Ann Allan said: “I think the girls are showing that they’re incredibly grown-up and sociable.”
