RED, white and blue will be the colour theme when the Royal York Hotel hosts a royal wedding ladies’ lunch on April 28.
Dishes will include Sandringham spring salad, St Andrew’s soup, Middleton pork loin and pear William.
The lunch has been organised by the Selby Committee of Yorkshire Cancer Research, which was formed in 1967 and has helped raise thousands of pounds for the regional cancer charity, which has its headquarters in Harrogate.
Following lunch, the speaker will be Judy Theobald, the former editor of Lincolnshire Life and a BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter. A raffle will also be drawn, with first prize of a two-night stay at the Royal York.
Kay Enion, secretary of the Selby committee, said it was hoped the event would raise about £2,000. She said: “With the wedding taking place the next day we thought it was a perfect occasion to hold a themed event like this in aid of a worthwhile local cancer charity. Tickets for the lunch cost £25.
