REPAIRS to a riverside path in York have been completed after £2,500 in funding was secured.
The cost of the project to ensure the route alongside the River Foss is safe for walkers, joggers and cyclists has been met by City of York Council’s Heworth ward committee.
Ruth Potter, who is standing for re-election for Labour in Heworth, said: “Residents raised the issue of the state of a section of the path between Heworth Green and Fossway some time ago, because it had become boggy and unsafe for those wanting to use it.
“I’m pleased we have been able to allocate this sum to make it accessible again.”
Fellow Heworth candidate Barbara Boyce said: “This work was essential and reflects our commitment to have pride in our surroundings and look after the public areas which make the ward the special place it is.”
