GREEN Party election candidates have marked out a York energy centre as a benchmark for how fuel bills can be cut and new jobs created while helping the environment.
Some of the party’s contenders for this week’s local elections visited Clifton-based Solarwall, which now has 80 staff and provides renewable energy systems for homes and businesses.
It installs equipment such as solar thermal systems for hot water, solar panels, wood-burning stoves and cavity and loft insulation, as well as offering energy efficiency advice.
Green leader and Fishergate candidate Andy D’Agorne said: “Investment in renewable technologies and energy efficiency is not only good for the environment, reducing pollution and CO2 emissions, it also brings down energy bills, helps to reduce fuel poverty and creates new green jobs.
“Solarwall is an excellent example of a local company which has grown over the last ten years.”
