FAMILY and friends of York war hero Matthew Hatton are planning a charity night in their latest fundraising efforts for Help for Heroes.
When Lance Bombardier Matthew Hatton became the first York soldier to die in Afghanistan in August 2009, aged only 23, his parents, Jill and Phil, and two sisters, Vicky and Becky, vowed to do something that would have made him as proud of them as they were of him.
In their latest fundraiser Jill and Phil are holding a charity barbecue at The Cottage Inn, Haxby, on Saturday, May 21, where there will also be an auction and raffle.
Admission costs £12.50. For more details, phone 01904 763949
