Pupils enjoyed a picnic instead of their usual school meal thanks to yesterday’s elections.
Derwent School in York was being used as a polling booth for the local government elections and the referendum on proposed changes to the UK’s voting system.
Instead of having the day off, the pupils attended while voting was going on, but were asked to bring a picnic because the school’s canteen would be out of use. Some ate their pack-ups outside while watching people turn up to cast their votes.
