THE Conservative MP for The Colne Valley in Yorkshire has asked the Prime Minister why the fuel for the charitably run Yorkshire Air Ambulance is subject to VAT whereas the charitably run RNLI Lifeboats are not?
The MP had helped supporters of Huddersfield Town AFC to raise £8,000 to assist in the funding of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance – a truly splendid effort.
Our Prime Minister replied: “Because EU law does not allow us to exempt helicopters from VAT, but it does allow lifeboats to avoid paying VAT.”
Here is yet another very valid reason why this country should leave the EU immediately, and allow us to run our own nation as we once did before membership of this atrocious organisation.
