PL Hart is being unrealistic if they think withdrawing licences from supermarkets would stop binge drinking (Letters, April 26). It wouldn’t.

People could buy alcohol in small amounts or from different off-licences to binge drink at the weekend. Also, what is to stop people going from one pub to another?

The only people who would be affected are people like me who prefer to enjoy a quiet drink at home, instead of a noisy, busy pub, especially as a glass of wine costs so much.

I don’t like pubs, but that doesn’t give me the right to say they should be closed down to stop antisocial behaviour, as the majority of people who use pubs go to relax and socialise, not to get drunk.

The same applies to those who like to drink at home.
