A CORRESPONDENT (Letters, May 5) takes issue with your editing, changing the word “lady” to “woman”.
I well remember, about 30 years ago, talking to Press reporter Ian Lockwood, a fellow rugby league referee, about this constant word of the word “woman”.
He told me it was company policy, as this word generally covered all females and showed no bias. This policy, correctly, seems to continue to this day.
