MIXED fortunes befell York Under-13s in the three-team Carnegie Challenge.
In a storming display they beat Leeds 1-0 with a Ben Hirst strike. But luck was out in the second match, perishing to two penalties in as many minutes against Liverpool, who later beat Leeds 4-1 to win the event.
York, who meet Southampton in the English Schools’ FA Cup final at MK Dons on Monday, May 23, kick off 10.30am, play Spen Valley Barmby Moor in the league today, 10.30am ko.
